Dakota, as you see, is a very rich black and tan with a lot of wonderful red pigment. He is not overly angulated, but is a very sound balanced dog with very strong ligamentation and a smooth easy gait. He has a very masculine head, a wonderful dark eye, and a plush coat. He is very people orientated, intelligent, sensitive, and eager to please. He has an energetic approach to life and work, but is very easy to live with. He's very confident and considers himself superior to other dogs.
"Dakota" has earned dual titles, achieving his Championship in one weekend, and earning his CD with a high in class. He passed his temperament test with flying colors. We are very proud of our boy!!!
Dakota now has 10 Champions and 3 pointed offspring, from 6 litters. He has completed all his requirements for ROMC, just waiting for that working title.
Dakota has not produced any missing testicles, missing teeth and does not carry the long coat factor. He does carry the Black recessive.
His sire, Conquistador, AKA "Monty", was a to-die for puppy, at 6 months and 2 days he took Winners Male and Best Puppy in Show at the GSD Specialty. He went on to the Nationals and took 4th in his class. He finished, his championship the following spring at 14 months. He sired 5 champion offspring before being sold to a pet home, as he couldn't abide doing kennel time.
His dam, "Mitzi", was one of Crystaridge's top bitches, consistently producing multiple champion litters. She is listed #6 ROMC Dam in 1997.
Dakota was awarded the prestigious Register of Merit Canada in February 2004. His last litter out of Michaela produced another 4 Champions, giving him an amazing record of 14 Champions in just 6 litters. These kids were more than beautiful representatives of the breed. They were smart, sensitive, sensible and joyful dogs to be around. Many of them have achieved working titles in Obedience, Tracking, Agility, Therapy and Rally!!! And there will be more to come!
Sadly, Dakota is no longer with us. We cherish his memory, and his legacy lives on in these wonderful progeny. Many are currently active in our present breeding program. A limited amount of Dakota semen is available.
